Mount Osorezan

Mount Osorezan is also know as "The Gates of Hell"

Mount Osorezan is a caldera volcano. Last erupted in 1787.
There are Sulfur fumes emitted from the volcano below.

This turtle was carved out of rock. It was really cool.

It is believed that this is the entrance to Hell, that ALL deceased souls need to pass through here on their way to the afterlife.

Visitors often leave gifts for family and friends who have passed, in an attempt to help the departed gain entry to heaven.
Not exactly sure what the person leaving a cell phone had in mind. LOL

We found a bubbling hot spring. Which was VERY hot!

I love the Oriental structures on their temples and palaces.

We went up to the Observatory and we were able to see all the way out to the Sea of Japan.

The view up here was spectacular!
