Obi Wall Decor Party

I was invited to attend an Obi folding party.
An Obi is the belt that is worn with a Kimono.

We took our Obi's and folded them to make these beautiful wall hangings.

After sewing down the corners, I was able to remove the blue clips.
Since it's pink, this is now hanging in Sydney's room.
It was SO much fun to make!

Aomori Dress Lady

I bought this beautiful Kimono and had it turned into a formal dress.

This is what my dress looks like.
I can't wait to wear it to the Navy Ball that's coming up.

Tohoku Onsen

Dan & I went to a private Onsen this evening.
An Onsen is a public bath and your not allowed to wear a swimsuit, only your birthday suit.
That's not really something we're interested in doing so, we made a reservation for a private Onsen.

Large bath tub with HOT water.

Small sitting room.

Bathroom for getting ready when your done.

It was a nice experience. The water was so hot that I could only sit in it for about 15 minutes before I would get a headache and need to get out.
It was very relaxing! We then went out to dinner before heading home.

More Pictures from Tokyo

We rode the trains and subway everywhere in Tokyo.
And lots and lots of walking!

Shibuya Crossing:
This is the busiest intersection in the world.

Tokyo is really pretty at night with all the lights.

We found the Temple while out wondering around.

We stopped at a small Ramen restaurant in one of the train stations.

I love the Ramen in Japan!

We found a pastries shop in the train station as well.
This was SO yummy! Chocolate ice cream inside a chocolate puff pastry, topped with more chocolate with nuts and marshmallows.
Yummy!!!

Funky Polka-Dotted Art

We this "art" outside one of the train stations.
I have no words for what this is, or what they are doing!

Dan's comment: "I'm not mature enough for this art!"

The kids think they are playing Leap Frog! LOL

Nittere Ohdokei Clock

We found one of the world's largest Cuckoo Clocks in downtown Tokyo.

5 times a day the clock will give a 4 minute performance for those passing by.
It was really neat to watch it.

The clock is so large that all the "people" that move on the clock are life sized.
The kids enjoyed watching the clock.

Shopping at Sanrio

We found a large Hello Kitty store while in Tokyo.

Sydney was SO excited!
She took her time and careful picked out what she wanted most.

This was look on her face when I told her she was allowed to pick out 3 things instead of just 1.
This is pure excitement on her face! I love it!!

Tokyo Sky Tree

The Tokyo Sky Tree is the tallest broadcasting tower in the world.

The elevator has a glass roof so you can watch as you go up to the top of the Sky Tree.

The view from the top was amazing!

Standing on the glass floor, looking at the ground 450 meters below.

Underneath the Sky Tree we found a large shopping center,
restaurants, an Aquarium and a Planetarium.

We had lunch at this little Hawaiian Burger shop. The burgers were amazing!!

The kids had pancakes and French fries.
The pancakes were also amazing!
