Danny's Baptism

 

 

Danny was baptized today. It was a VERY special day and we were blessed with friends and church members to have come out in the snow to join us.

 

Danny's Birthday

 

Today we woke up to 15" of snow and NO SCHOOL!! They don't close anything around here for snow, but today was different. Danny got the only snow day in the past 5 years to happen on his birthday.

 

 

 

Danny's party was cancelled due to the snow, but not even that could discourage this kids spirits. He was just glad to open presents and spend the day outside playing with all his friends. I made special birthday brownies to celebrate with today.

Hachinohe Wooden Horse Factory

 

We went to the Wooden Horse Factory today to see how they make these famous souvenirs.

But they weren't open! They did let me take a few pictures though.

 

 

These are some of the beautiful wooden horses they make. I just wish we could have seen them being made. The kids and I came down here on a weekend and was told in "broken English" that they aren't open on weekends. So, we decided to come back during the week, only to be told again that they aren't open. Well, at least we got to kind of see where these horses are made. LOL

 

Clam-tastic ????

 

While out exploring this weekend we came across an ice cream stand. The kids wanted some so we stopped. Inside we found the most awful flavor of ice cream - CLAM!!

 

I'm all for trying new things, but this is where I draw the line! I absolutely will NOT try this horrid creation. Yuck!!!!

Local Shopping Splurge

 

Today I went shopping with my friend Yakari. She's Japanese and knows everything there is about the local store. It was really nice to have someone there to ask questions, read the labels for me and tell me how to cook or use things. I got to see all kinds of different things in the store that I normally just pass by.

 

I'm SO excited to try all the new things I bought today.

After School Cross Country Skiing

 

Danny has joined the Cross Country Skiing team at school, and is doing VERY well at it.

 

 

 

Lunch With My Minions

 

Sydney and I decided to go have lunch with Danny at school today.

Danny was really happy we came.

 

 

Sydney was SO excited to have lunch at school like a "BIG GIRL"

 

 

She insisted that she get a full lunch and not just the pizza.

LOL

She ate also all of it. Sydney is already excited to start school.

Daddy Daughter Breakfast

 

Dan took Sydney out this morning for some special one-on-one time. They went to the club and had breakfast together. Sydney LOVED it!!

Kawaii

 

Kawaii mean Pretty in Japanese.

 

 

Everywhere we go, the locals always say to Sydney: "Kawaii!!"

 

And at the cooking social yesterday all the Japanese ladies loved Sydney. They pinched her cheeks, and stroked her beautiful BLONDE hair.

 

The locals just LOVE little blonde headed kids!

Cooking Social

 

 

 

 

I went with a group of women to a cooking social today.

 

 

 

Some local Japanese ladies taught us how to make some dishes that include Clam.

 

 

We got to help cook the dishes we were going to have for lunch.

 

 

 

 

I tried everything. And I can honestly say: I don't like Clams! LOL

 

 

It was a nice afternoon out getting to know the culture better.
